Bombing Triggers Israeli Airstrikes
or so said the Washington Post on May 19, 2001 in reference to the unleashing of F-16s against a civilian population. The Washington Post did not mention that 17 Palestinians had been killed in the week from May 10-16, 2001 before the suicide bomber killed himself and four Israelis. As a matter of fact The Washington Post rarely mentions Israeli violence against Palestinians except to say that it is in retaliation for Palestinians violence. However that is not often the case.

Correction: The total number for the dead in Colombia's civil war over the past decade was given as 250,000 in the In answer to Jesse Miller piece. The corrected figure is 40,000, which is a conservative figure given that one year alone, 1997 saw 23,000 political deaths and currently they are estimated at between 5 and 10 politically motivated killings a day.
